The MTV reality
What is this world coming to (on my cable TV)?
I saw the MTV Movie Awards were minutes away, so I decided to leave it on. What'd I see?
A Dr. Pepper commercial based entirely on the number twenty-three, then a Pontiac commercial featuring the Dandy Warhols.
Then there was some dumb Ron Google skit on the show, and if it wasn't Bob Odenkirk, then it was someone who studied at his feet.
Later, Gnarls Barkley performs with the whole band decked out in Star Wars Classic costumes. This band certainly snuck up big, eh?
Later...
Not a big Christina Aguilera fan, but that wasn't what I was expecting. Live band, oldies soul vamp, performed on a vinyl-LP stage, pretty much nothing clearly "modern" about it. Along with Gnarls, are we seeing a quasi-return to old school black music?
Still later.
So, a Silver Bucket of Excellence goes to "Do The Right Thing" - a movie I've re-watched twice in the last couple of months. Absolutely crucial, and I'm starting to notice an underground/retro theme to my take on these awards.

Missed the rest but saw Gnarls. Apparently they play almost every gig in a different set of costumes. Coachella certainly wasn't Kansas as they donned Wizard of Oz outfits.
