Miyazaki!

Kristine's niece stayed over on Wednesday night, and we watched "Spirited Away." I wasn't sure how the very Japanese movie would go over, but she liked it. Wow, just noticed I.M.D.B. users have rated it the #50 movie of all in the database. #1 Animated!



We started to watch Princess Mononoke (which is real good), but it got late. I still haven't seen Howl's Moving Castle. But still - Domo arigato, Miyazaki-san!

Ok, one final word to the wise - here's a movie (from the same studio) that I really recommend for the adults.

"Grave of the Fireflies" - very impressive, serious movie about children surviving in WWII Japan.



Anyway, just thought I'd throw out some movie ideas - for any age viewer. I also recommend Brad Bird's "The Incredibles" and especially "The Iron Giant." Enjoy...

{Edit: I was poking around, and hadn't realized that both "Spirited Away" and "The Incredibles" actually won Oscars for Best Animated Feature.}
